Warm, structured support
I want students to feel safe enough to try, but supported enough to know exactly what to do next.
Hi, I'm so glad you're here. I'm a certified K-5 teacher with 8 years of experience working in schools across multiple states, and Southern Minds is my tutoring practice for elementary students and their families.
My background includes a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies with a focus in education and health, along with a master's degree in K-5 education from the University of Tennessee. That training, combined with real school experience, shapes how I support the whole child: academic skills, confidence, routines, and the way a student feels walking into class.

My experience has given me the chance to see different classroom settings, curriculum expectations, learning styles, and student needs. I know how quickly a child can lose confidence when school starts to feel overwhelming, and I also know how much progress can happen when instruction feels calm, clear, and personal.
I have a special heart for elementary learners. Whether a child needs support with reading, writing, math, homework, confidence, or test preparation, my goal is to meet them where they are, build skills step by step, and help families understand what their child needs next.

I break skills into manageable pieces so students can build understanding instead of just guessing their way through.
Parents should know what we worked on, what improved, and what kind of support would help next.
Start with a session request to share your child's grade level, subject needs, homework concerns, and what you are noticing at home. From there, I can recommend a simple starting point.
